Kürüm produces steel products which are an indispensable part of our lives. During this production process, Kürüm aims to leave a clean environment for the next generation and promoting the life quality as it is aware of its responsibility on the environment and people and accepts these responsibilities as a part of its traditional mission and targets.
The main elements of Kürüm Environment Policy are:
To use the technologies that generate less harmful by-products,
To work on constant betterment by frequently checking all work processes in order to use raw materials effectively and efficiently, and to protect natural resources,
To follow all regulations and laws on environment and contribute to setting a standard in this regard,
To secure the use of waste as raw material input in either Kürüm's own production processes or in other industrial organizations, and supporting and developing energy and raw material recycling activities that will minimize the negative impacts of the by-products that are created during the processes.
Kürüm Holding's sensitivity to the issues about environment are also shared and adopted by the employees. We put enormous effort into setting an example for the countries and cities where we engage in production activities.
Following the principle to minimize the elements that may cause a change in ecological equilibrium and even eliminate these elements if possible, Kürüm Group gives priority to use the latest technologies with the lowest rate of waste production in accordance with the international standards. It also uses systems that employ the latest environment technologies in its facilities that are already completed or currently under construction in Elbasan , Albania and Gebze/Kocaeli.
Albanian EAF and Environmental Impact Evaluation for Log Moulting Facilities Report (ÇED) are prepared and presented to Ministry of Environment. Both of these reports are approved by the Ministry.
In all the investments that will be made from now on, Environment Impact Evaluation will be made and Kürüm Group's new facilities will be environment friendly as they'll make use of latest technologies. In this manner, the Group has qualified for ISO 9001-2000Quality Management System Certificate from AQA and TÜV, and S. SH DIN 488 Product Compatibility Certificate from DPS (Albania Standards Institute). It is still working on creating a Environment Management System that includes 14001.

Following the Air Pollution Control Regulations, chimneys that require constant emission measuring device are regularly inspected by Elbasan Environment Institute which is connected to Ministry of Environment,
Existing Energy Facilities Power Plant is completed and wastage of energy is minimized,
As a part of the emphasis put on recycling for protecting the environment, roller mill wastes are sent to battery factories for recycling,
The water that is used during the production process in the companies of the Group is recovered in our advanced water treatment facility and is used after recovering in the production in a close circuit system,
The dust collecting systems that belong to the Group are investigated and a report on their latest condition is prepared. We are still working on increasing the capacity. In this fashion, the dust collecting unit was put into operation by October 2005 during the charging.
Environment management measures are in place over an area of 22,500 m² with around 500 young trees planted around our facilities.
