Kürüm Durres is the second most important investment made in Albania by Kürüm Holding. The Company was formed to meet the shipbuilding and repair requirements of Albania and the Mediterranean Riviera. Having been added to the body of the Group under the name of Durres-Kürüm Shipping SH.A. with the acquisition of Durres, the only shipyard in the country, the facility offers considerable options for Kürüm Holding in the region.
Kürüm Holding owns 65% of the shares in the shipyard, which is situated in the heart of Durres harbor, the start of the East-West Trans-Balkan route-the principle source of economic cooperation for the Balkan countries. The Durres Shipyard spreads across an area of 120,000 m 2 , 40,000 m 2 of which lies on the sea and 80 m 2 on land.
In addition to the logistic and strategic importance of Kürüm Durres, with its constantly upgraded technology and maintenance and protection systems, the complex provides maintenance and repair services not only for ships sailing under the colors of Albania, but also for ships sailing with the flag of many foreign countries including Italy and Greece. The shipyard also has certain financial advantages given these technologies.
Kürüm Durres, one of the most important facilities owned by Kürüm Holding, will, in the near future, after the completion of already projected investments, have the potential to provide transportation and logistic services for the countries of the region, including Italy, Greece and Montenegro. Due to this strategic stature, it is expected that the contributions made to the Group by the facility will constantly increase over the years.
