As Kürüm International continues its activities in Albania , it has managed to expand beyond to reach the emerging market in the Balkans.
Albania serves as the Holding's production base in the Balkans. Kürüm Holding's activities here are concentrated primarily around iron-steel production and lime and oxygen production this industry requires.
Currently, Kürüm International is the only company in Albania that operates iron-steel facilities. Built on a 430,490 m2 -area and equipped with advanced technology, this facility puts Kürüm Holding amongst the most prominent and respected industrial corporations in Albania. With its production at international standards and trusted brand image, the Company strengthens this status year by year.
The proximity of the Kürüm International to the market and logistic advantages, creates countless opportunities for the Company not only in Albania, but throughout the region. Despite the drop in the customs duties, especially the high production costs of iron-steel exports and certain advantages gained in the costs of production makes this investment in Albania even more important for the Holding.

In line with the strategic perspectives drawn, Kürüm International has, to a great extent, consolidated its position in the market through its stable pricing policy, strong cooperation forged with the sales personnel and active premium-based marketing-sales system.

KÜRÜM INTERNATIONAL
Established to conduct Kürüm Holding's operations in Albania, Kürüm International completed its first activity by launching the Elbasan Steel Production Facilities in 1999, in accordance with the privatization Privileges Agreement signed with Ministry of Public Economy and Privatizations.
Kürüm International is constantly strengthening its position in the Albanian market. Offering quality to the structural iron market at European standards, the Company has been overtaking its competitors in recent years, thanks to the diverse and abundant product range it created through investments.
Kürüm International has an annual production capacity of 550,000 tons for hot rolled structural iron and 400,000 tons for liquid steel at its smelter and rolling mill facilities built on 78,918 m2 covered and 208,632 m2 open space. Having the potential to meet Albania's total long-range product requirements single handedly, these facilities are being further upgraded daily through investments in renovation.
Having also acquired, with the investments made in 2006, the capability to produce 60 mm to 140 mm-range profiled iron at a 120,000-ton capacity, these facilities have given Kürüm International an unrivalled status in the region. The fact that not only in Albania, but also within a vast geography around the country, no other profiled iron producing facility exists, gives the Company a significant superiority due to its great exporting potential.
Kürüm International has the largest production capacity in the Balkans; it converts the ingot iron produced in its own smelters into structural iron in its rolling mill section of the factory complex. While most of the raw materials required by the smelter installations are acquired from the domestic market, growing capacity also necessities scrap imports from abroad.
Kürüm International realizes 78% of its sales within Albania. This performance is attained by the favorably priced and thorough promotion of Kürüm quality in every locality. 80% of the country's total market demand is met by the Company.
Kürüm International's regional market share grew from 20% in 2006 to 25% in 2007. Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia and Italy have the largest share amongst the countries exported to.
